The trails are hard and technical compared to the UK and Ireland, but there’s some great running and outstanding views. Let’s take a look…
Training
iRoM20 Mourne High Peaks
I mixed it up today on the weekly long run, by modifying my ‘high peaks’ route, which links three of the highest peaks in the Mourne Mountains to include scrambling routes wherever possible. I had a lot of fun until the thunder storm 😲
36.5km, 2403m evaluation. Ronda dels Cims training is well underway!

RIP Chris Cornell 🎶
iRoM19 Causeway Coast Way
I was away from the mountains this weekend, so took the opportunity to do my long run as an out and back on the Causeway Coast Way.
iRoM18 Great mountain weather ⛰☀️
We’re having great weather at the moment in Northern Ireland. It’s a bit windy, but easy on the eye and lovely dry ground.
Here’s the weekend long run 🤙🏼
iRoM17 Chimney Rock & Slieve Donard
Last night I went for a middle distance run instead of a short fell race. It was a great night for the hills, although I forgot my headtorch and finished in the dark!
Trail & Fell Running along the Mourne Way and Mourne Wall
This run started out with 10 miles on mostly trail, before returning through the mountains. A very windy day.
13 Peaks!
A frosty day with magical views. 31km, 2807m climbing, 6hrs 3mins!
It has been a while…
It has been a good few months since I have been running in the mountains, as my training this year has all been focused on Rotterdam Marathon. Thankfully that experience is behind me, so it’s back to the hills for the rest of the year! I will now focus on building up my training to focus on some local mountains events, and my second ‘A’ race of 2015, the CCC at the UTMB.
For the first run I opted for a slooooooww recce of section 3 of the Denis Rankin Round. My legs were sore, but what more could I expect just 7 days out from Rotterdam!
Sit back and enjoy….!
Snow in the mountains…
It’s Christmas and there’s snow on the mountain tops. Couple that fact with a new GoPro from Santa and I figured it was about time you all joined me for a run! Enjoy 🙂
